Sutherland Shire Teacher Librarians Network-Term 3, 2014

Today as part of a day all about Library Technologies, I did a short presentation to this group about our Library Management System, Softlink's Oliver.
I wanted to put the public school teacher-librarians at ease about their coming change from OASIS to Oliver.  We've been using Oliver for a number of years now.  It seemed to work!

What do I do?

Let's start with this:
This defines my role, my background and areas of expertise. This is the measuring stick I need to hold myself against. I need to take the responsibility to make sure I continually check myself against these standards. These also define my job description. don't get distracted from the real role.

21st Century School Libraries - rethinking the School Library

Rethink

New curriculum, budget cuts, it's time to rethink the function of the school library. As my role and my Library space continues to change I need to look at what I can, and can't do. Perhaps I become more consultative with class teachers on how to set up research assignments in their classrooms, locate and use information rather than do it in the library. I become more of a trainer and collaborator.
